About Crossy Road Master

Crossy Road Master is an endless arcade crossing game where you nudge a blocky character forward through lane after lane of traffic, water and railway track, trying to get further than you managed last time. Each hop is a small judgement call: whether the gap between two lorries is really there, whether a floating log will still be under you when you land, whether a train is close enough to make waiting the smarter move. The layout shifts every run, so nothing can be learned by rote and no two attempts fall apart in quite the same way. Part of the appeal is the cast, which starts with the obvious chicken and pigeon and grows steadily odder from there, taking in curiosities such as Specimen 115 and Unihorse. Two people can also share a single device and race each other lane by lane.

How to Play Crossy Road Master

Use the arrow keys or WASD to hop one square at a time: up to move forward, left and right to sidestep along a lane, down to back up. With a mouse or on a touchscreen, click or tap ahead of your character to jump forward, and tap to either side to shift across. Movement is step by step, so timing matters more than speed.

Tips and Tricks

  • Read the lane after the one you are entering, not just the one in front. Landing in a safe square with a lorry already bearing down on the next lane leaves you with nowhere to go.
  • Sidestepping is free progress in disguise. Shuffling left or right inside a lane you already occupy to line up with an approaching gap is far safer than waiting for a gap to appear directly ahead.
  • On water, choose a log or platform drifting towards the middle rather than one about to leave the screen, and keep hopping along it as it travels so you stay in reach of the far bank.
  • Treat standing still as a brief pause to read traffic, not a strategy. Long hesitations rarely end well, and neither does hammering the forward key in a rhythm, which walks you straight into the first thing you have not looked at.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to install anything to play?

No. Crossy Road Master runs in the browser on Dubdoo, so it starts as soon as the page loads and there is no download or account to set up.

Is there an ending or a final stage?

There is no finish line. The run continues until you are hit or fall in, and your distance is the score you are trying to beat.

Can two of us play at once?

Yes, the game supports same-device multiplayer, so a friend or family member can compete against you on the one screen.

Is a keyboard better than tapping?

Both work well. A keyboard gives slightly crisper single hops, while tapping suits phones and tablets and is easier for quick sideways shuffles.

Why do the hazards feel different every time?

The lanes are shuffled for each attempt, so traffic patterns, rivers and railway crossings are never arranged the same way twice.
