About Wood Block Journey

Wood Block Journey takes the familiar wooden block puzzle and lays it over a sudoku style 9x9 grid. You place shaped blocks onto the board, and a row, a column or a three by three square clears when you fill it completely. Blocks do not fall on their own and cannot be rotated, so unlike Tetris there is no time pressure and no way to twist a piece into a gap. Every move is a decision you make at your own pace. There are two ways to play: an endless mode where you keep going until the board runs out of space, and a level mode with set objectives. The wooden art and unhurried pace make it a calm game, though the board fills up faster than you expect.

How to Play Wood Block Journey

Drag a block from the tray at the bottom of the screen and drop it onto the 9x9 board. Blocks cannot be rotated, so they must be placed in the shape they are given. Fill a full row, a full column or a three by three square to clear it. The game ends when none of the blocks you have been dealt will fit.

Tips and Tricks

Keep the middle of the board clear. Blocks placed centrally block more future placements than blocks tucked into a corner.
Look at all three blocks in the tray before placing any of them. Placing the easy one first often leaves nowhere for the awkward one.
Aim for the three by three squares as well as rows and columns. Players used to plain block puzzles forget them and lose easy clears.
Never leave single empty cells scattered around. One gap in the wrong place can make half the board unusable.
