About Block Blast

Block Blast is a block puzzle game played on a grid, and it sits in the same family as woody puzzle games, cube block games and other grid based puzzles. You are given a set of shaped blocks and you place them wherever they fit, clearing lines as you complete them. There is no timer and nothing falls of its own accord, so the pace is entirely yours. What makes it hold attention is that the difficulty is self inflicted: the board only gets awkward because of placements you made several moves ago. It is a good game for unwinding with, and equally good if you want something to think about, which is an unusual combination and the main reason this style of puzzle has stayed popular.

How to Play Block Blast

Drag a block from the tray at the bottom onto the grid and release it in the space you want it to occupy. Blocks cannot be rotated, so a shape has to fit as given. Completing a full line clears it and frees the space. The game ends when none of the blocks you have left will fit anywhere.

Tips and Tricks

Place blocks against the edges and keep the centre open. A block in the middle of the board removes far more future options.
Check all the blocks in your tray before placing the first one, and plan the order so the largest shape still has somewhere to go.
Avoid leaving isolated single squares. They are almost impossible to fill and slowly choke the board.
Clearing one line reliably beats holding out for two. A cleared line now is space you can use on the very next move.
