About Buto Square 2

Buto Square 2 is a 2D platformer built around tight, single-screen challenges. You control a small square character who has to gather every red hat scattered around each stage before the exit door will take you onward. The hazards are laid out with care rather than thrown in at random: square enemies patrolling the floors, flying variants that cut across open gaps, spikes waiting under jumps and ground saws grinding along narrow ledges. Eight levels make up the run, and the layouts grow more demanding as you go, with hats tucked into corners that force you to commit to awkward jumps. Sessions are short and repetition is part of the appeal, since most deaths teach you something about timing. As the follow-up to the original Buto Square, it keeps the same clean shapes and unfussy platforming rather than adding clutter.

How to Play Buto Square 2

Use the arrow keys or WASD to run left and right, and press the up key, W or the spacebar to jump. Collect every red hat in the level, then walk into the exit door to move on. Touching a square enemy, a flying enemy, spikes or a ground saw ends the attempt, so you restart the stage and try a cleaner route.

Tips and Tricks

Scan the whole screen before you move. Knowing where the last hat sits stops you from jumping into a saw while backtracking.
Watch a patrolling enemy complete one full circuit before crossing its path; the patterns are fixed, so timing beats reflexes.
Land short rather than long near spike pits. A stubby jump costs you a second, an overshoot costs the level.
Deal with flying enemies by standing still on a safe ledge and letting them pass, instead of trying to outrun them mid-jump.
