About Sprinter

Sprinter is a sports game built around one event: the 100-metre dash. There is nothing to plan and nothing to upgrade — you alternate the left and right arrow keys to drive your runner's legs, and the quicker and more evenly you alternate, the longer and faster the strides become. Lose the rhythm or jab both keys together and the runner stumbles, which normally ends any chance of winning. Each race puts you against opponents who are noticeably quicker than the last set, so a pace that won comfortably in one round will leave you trailing in the next. A run lasts only a few seconds, which makes Sprinter the sort of game you restart a dozen times in a row, trimming fractions off by smoothing out your keystrokes. It began life as a Flash title and the stripped-back feel has survived intact.

How to Play Sprinter

Press the left and right arrow keys in alternation to swing your runner's legs. Every clean swap adds a stride and builds speed, so keep the alternation fast but even. Hammering both keys at once, or breaking the pattern, makes the runner trip and lose ground. Reach the finish line ahead of every rival to move on to the next, quicker field. A physical keyboard gives much better control than an on-screen one.

Tips and Tricks

  • Think alternation, not speed: a steady left-right-left pattern produces more momentum than random mashing, which mostly causes stumbles.
  • Start tapping the instant the race begins. The first two or three strides set your acceleration and there is no time to recover a slow start over 100 metres.
  • If you trip, settle back into a clean rhythm rather than panicking and speeding up — frantic tapping usually leads straight into a second fall.
  • Use two fingers on separate hands or two fingers on one hand rather than one finger jumping between keys; the shorter travel keeps your timing consistent as the opponents get faster.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to download anything to play Sprinter?

No. It runs in the browser on Dubdoo, with no install, sign-up or plugin required.

Why does my runner keep falling over?

Falls come from bad timing rather than from tapping too slowly, usually pressing both arrow keys together or breaking the left-right pattern. Slow down slightly and keep the alternation clean.

How long is a single race?

Only a few seconds, since the whole game is a 100-metre sprint. Most players get through many attempts in a short sitting.

Does it get harder as I go?

Yes. Each round you win puts you up against faster opponents, so you have to keep improving your tapping rhythm to stay ahead.

Can I play it on a phone or tablet?

It is designed around two keyboard keys, so a laptop or desktop is the better option. Touch controls make the alternating rhythm much harder to sustain.
