About IdleByte RE

IdleByte RE is an incremental clicker built around a computer's memory. You start by generating bytes by hand, then reinvest what you earn into buildings that produce memory on their own, so the counter keeps climbing whether you are watching it or not. Progress arrives on several tracks at once: memory funds the next purchase, experience raises your level, and each level hands over stat points to distribute however you prefer. Every fiftieth copy of a building pushes it up a level, which rewards buying in bulk rather than spreading purchases thinly. Once your total reaches YottaBytes you can convert it into chips, each worth a permanent 25% boost to income, and chips have upgrades of their own. It is a remake of a 2015 Flash game with cleaner graphics, rebalanced numbers, bug fixes and mobile support. The distant goal in IdleByte RE is the mystical upgrade.

How to Play IdleByte RE

Click the memory counter to produce your first bytes, then click entries in the purchase list to buy buildings and upgrades. Everything runs on mouse clicks, and taps do the same job on a phone or tablet. Spend the stat points you receive from levelling up, and leave the game open so memory keeps accumulating while you are away.

Tips and Tricks

  • Count how many copies of a building you own before switching to a new one. Since every fiftieth purchase raises that building's level, stopping at 43 or 47 leaves a sizeable bonus on the table.
  • Buying steadily beats sitting on a large balance. Idle memory income compounds, so an upgrade bought now produces for the whole session, while banked bytes do nothing until you spend them.
  • Put early stat points into anything that raises memory income rather than spreading them evenly. Faster income means faster experience, which brings the next batch of points sooner.
  • Do not rush the first chip. Chips are bought out of your memory total, so it is usually worth building a comfortable YottaByte surplus and taking several at once, then reinvesting in chip upgrades before pushing on.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is IdleByte RE the same as the old Flash version?

It is a remake of the 2015 original rather than a straight port. The graphics have been redone, the balance reworked, bugs fixed, and mobile play added.

Does it keep earning memory when I close the tab?

Treat it as a game that rewards being left open. Come back to a running tab and you will find the memory counter has moved on without you.

What do chips actually do?

Each chip adds a permanent 25% to your memory income, and they stack, so a handful of them changes the pace of the whole run. They can also be upgraded further.

How does the game end?

The stated goal is buying the mystical upgrade, which sits far beyond the early buildings and needs both chip income and levelling to reach.

Do I need to install anything or sign up?

No. It runs in the browser on Dubdoo with no download, no install and no account, on desktop or mobile.
