About Roads

Roads is a tile-based puzzle game built on one simple idea: a stretch of road has been broken into pieces, and nothing joins up until you put those pieces back in the right order. Each level hands you a scrambled layout and leaves you to work out which segment belongs where, so that every entrance meets an exit and the route runs from one side to the other without a gap. Progress is measured in solved boards rather than reflexes, there is no timer pushing you along, and nothing stops you trying an arrangement, stepping back and trying another. What gives Roads its character is how the reasoning shifts as boards grow: the early ones can be read at a glance, while busier layouts ask you to hold several possible sequences in mind at once.

How to Play Roads

Roads plays with the mouse alone. Click a road piece to pick it up, then click the space you want it to fill, or drag it straight across if you prefer. Pieces can be moved and swapped as often as you like, so nothing is locked in until you are happy with it. On a phone or tablet, tap and drag with one finger. A level ends once the road connects with no gaps left.

Tips and Tricks

Begin with the pieces that have only one opening. They can sit in very few places, and fixing them first narrows down everything around them.
Count openings before you place anything. A segment with three connections needs three neighbours waiting for it, so it rarely belongs near the edge of the board.
Work outwards from the most crowded corner rather than the emptiest one. Tight areas have fewer valid answers, and solving them tells you what the open space must contain.
If a board resists you, lift a whole cluster of three or four pieces and rebuild it, rather than nudging one piece at a time. Repeated single swaps usually mean the wrong assumption is buried a few tiles back.
