About Detto Man

Detto Man is a 2D platformer with a soft, cartoonish look and a simple goal: gather the oranges scattered around each stage and get to the exit door in one piece. Between you and that door sit patrolling enemies, creatures that drift through the air, beds of spikes and rotating blades that carve through the safe ground. The fruit is rarely placed anywhere convenient, so most of the game becomes a question of whether a jump is worth the risk or whether you should take the longer route around a hazard. There are eight levels, and they tighten steadily as you go, with less forgiving spacing and hazards layered on top of one another rather than met one at a time. Sessions are short, and the appeal comes from learning a stage's rhythm well enough to clear it cleanly.

How to Play Detto Man

Use the arrow keys or WASD to run left and right, and press the spacebar or the up key to jump. Time your leaps to clear spikes, blades and moving enemies, and pick up the oranges as you pass them. When the stage is done, walk into the exit door to move on to the next level. Touching a hazard sends you back to try again.

Tips and Tricks

Stop before each new screen and watch the blades and flying creatures complete a full cycle. Their timing is fixed, so one patient look tells you exactly when the gap opens.
Jump from the very edge of a platform rather than the middle. The extra distance often turns a risky gap into a comfortable one, especially over spikes.
Grab the awkward oranges on the way out, not the way in. Clearing the hazards first means you already know the safe footing when you double back.
When enemies patrol a narrow ledge, land behind them rather than in front. Following their path is far safer than trying to squeeze past head-on.
